So many of us know what we want for our health and fitness goals: to attain a fitter body, to lose excess weight, to eat better, to feel more attractive. However, we often spend a minimal amount of time thinking about “why” we want what we want. Getting to your “why” is essential to meet any goal.

The truth is this: being motivated is a great place to start, but motivation will only get you so far. Without a clear and exciting reason “why,” our fitness goals fall to the wayside, when our confidence and conviction wanes — and trust me, it will wane!

As a lifestyle and fitness coach, I want you to succeed. The biggest challenge for most of my clients is understanding that the process of embracing positive changes to a healthier you requires some serious planning and forethought.

Let’s create an action plan together, so that you can attain your fitness and lifestyle goals once and for all. Try following these four steps to reach your goals.

1. Ask yourself, “What is your goal(s) you are seeking to attain?”

The whole idea of choosing a reasonable goal is overrated. If you were really to go all out and dream big and bold, what goal(s) would you come up with? That goal you feel too silly to say out loud? That goal that when you attain it, could potentially change your life?

Any goal can be broken into bite-size pieces, however, if you are cutting your ability to dream short, chances are the goal you are choosing is just not exciting enough for you to want to stick through to attain it.
Stop today being a dream smasher to your own potential. You are way bigger than that, and you deserve more.

2. Now it is time for you to be courageous to write the goal down.

This is where your transformation begins.

3. Imagine what you’ll feel like when you achieve your goal.

Close your eyes and imagine what it is going to be like to nail that goal. I mean, not just kind of imagine, but totally immerse yourself in the thought and feeling of what it is going to be like. How will you feel emotionally? What are you wearing? What are you doing that may be totally different from what you are doing today? Who are you with? How are you showing up financially? Spiritually? Now, stay in that moment and soak up your success. Bask in the glow of accomplishment. Imagine it all. Great job. Now that you are laser clear on what this experience is going to be like when you attain this crazy-good goal…

“Living a breakthrough life, having a body that reflects who we truly are, takes courage and conviction. But it also takes a willingness to let go of self-judgment and limiting thinking so we can dream bigger and show up more boldly in who we came here to be.” – Kate McKay

4. Ask yourself this crucially important question: “Why is now the time for you to attain this goal?”

Why?  Getting to the “why” is exactly the place where your dream takes root — in the emotional connection you will make to be your best self.

Making positive lifestyle changes are not always easy. But when you are laser clear on why you desire to live a healthier lifestyle, you will be far more likely to not fall for your own excuses or find ways to back-slide or give up.You deserve more. Living a breakthrough life, having a body that reflects who we truly are, takes courage and conviction. But it also takes a willingness to let go of self-judgment and limiting thinking so we can dream bigger and show up more boldly in who we came here to be. Today, give yourself permission to dream bigger, to set loftier goals, and to gain a greater understanding of your “why.”Living a life of your dreams starts with just one step. Are you ready to take it?

“After I had my third child, I struggled with a self-image that led me to a place of negative thinking and self-doubt. What it took for me to break from that negative and self-destructive cycle was to imagine what it was going to be like when my kids had a mom that was healthy both physically and emotionally. I realized that my “why” was I wanted to live a long life so I could enjoy my kids and my some-day grandkids. I wanted to be free to live a life of health and vitality so I could continue to do the work I love- to inspire others to live an amazing life in all areas of their lives. I became so clear on my “why” that I would leap out of bed even in the coldest of mornings, and spend the time necessary to prepare healthy foods for myself (and my family). I wanted it that bad and I was that clear!” – Kate McKay
